Neuro Linguistic Programming - NLP

What is Neuro Linguistic Programming?
NLP has been described as “the art and science of excellence” and offers a range of techniques to help re-programme a person’s mind and body to gain greater effectiveness in all aspects of life. It can be a way of discovering and unfolding your personal genius, a way of bringing out the best in yourself and others. It is a study of what makes the difference between excellence and average, and it leaves behind a trail of extremely effective techniques for education, therapy, business, sports excellence and personal development.

What does NLP mean?
Neuro Linguistic Programming covers 3 simple ideas:

Neuro acknowledges the fact that all behaviour stems from our neurological senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. We use the brain, the nervous system, and the body’s five sense to process information and to learn, think and remember.

Linguistic refers to the verbal language that we use to communicate with each other, as well as our internal thoughts and our external body language.

Programming is the programmes or patterns of behaviour we all demonstrate and the way we organise our thoughts and behaviours in order to produce results.

Knowing about these things and the way they are learnt helps us to unlearn out-of-date programmes or unwanted behaviour patterns. We can learn new ways to perceive, to listen and to go about things more positively. NLP provides amazingly simple, powerful methods for changing the way we think, act and learn in order to transform ourselves and achieve personal changes quickly and easily. Psychology Today magazine has stated that ‘NLP may be the most powerful vehicle for change in existence’.
